Are your books ready for tax preparation?
Your tax return is only as accurate as your bookkeeping records. If they are not complete, accurate, and reconciled, we can’t do our job in preparing your tax return.
Below are two tools to assist you in making sure your books are ready for us to prepare your tax return.
For those with some bookkeeping experience – or to use with your bookkeeper:
Business Bookkeeping Year End Checklist – A video overview walks you through the checklist and the full checklist is available for PDF download. This checklist takes you through the year end steps of reconciling and confirming your books are complete, accurate, and reconciled.
For those with limited or no bookkeeping experience – or to use as a final check after using the year end checklist:
Are your books ready? – The video walks you through the checklist and shows you how to use it in QuickBooks Online and the checklist is available for PDF download. This will take you through checking for the most common red flags that indicate that your books are NOT ready. If none of these red flags show up, then your books are likely ready!
